It is a Andhra Special recipe "Peetala pulusu(Crabs Curry)".Recipes differ with places. Here is a recipe which is the very basic way of cooking crab in andhra pradesh.This Crab recipes is very delicacies and awesome.
Ingredients:-
- Crabs-500 grams(3 no)clean the crabs
- Chilli powder-1 tbsp-2 tbsp(depends on your spiciness)
- Turmeric powder-1/2 teaspoon
- Oil-4 tbsp
- Salt-to taste
- Tamarind-big lemon size(soaked in hot water)Make 31/2 cups of tamarind juice
- Green chillies-6
- Chopped Coriander-half bunch
- Curry leaves-2 springs
Onions - 2 medium(cut into slits)
Coriander powder-2 tbsp
Cumin powder-2 teaspoon
Ginger-1 inch piece
garlic -5 cloves
How to prepare:-
- Clean the crabs and cut into two pieces.crush crab legs little bit.clean thoroughly with water and keep it aside.
- Tamarind-big lemon size(soaked in hot water)Make 31/2 cups of tamarind juice.
- To prepare crab masala,to blender or mixer add onion slits,cumin powder,coriander powder,ginger,garlic cloves and Grind all the ingredients into rough to smooth paste.Keep it aside
- In a deep vessel heat 4 tbsps of oil, add crab masala paste,green chilliessalt,turmeric powder and salt to taste .Fry till oil separates.
- Now add red chilli powder,curry leaves.stir well continuously for few seconds .
- Now add cleaned crabs and mix well that all the crabs to get coated evenly.
- Cover vessel with a lid and cook for 5 more min on low flame.
- Now open the lid add 3 1/2 cups of tamarind juice.
- Adjust salt and red chilli powder according to your taste.
- cover the lid and cook for another 30 to 40 min on a very low flame till it turns to gravy consistency.
- Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with hot rice.
